He was stricken with polio before he had learned to walk, but he is now doing nicely, thanks to this worthy cause.

Four-year-old Nancy Drury, poster girl in 1947 "March of Dimes" campaign to aid Infantile Paralysis Foundation, lays wreath at grave of late President Franklin D. Roosevelt at Hyde Park, N.Y. Nancy was cured of dread disease largely through the Roosevelt-inspired fund-raising drive.
Youngsters from 10 countries honor the March of Dimes poster model, Larry McKenzie, 12, (center) of Kuckville, NY at a UN Stamp Club party in the Hotel Roosevelt. Larry is exhibiting a Tokyo stamp given him by Mrs. Eleanor Roosevelt, wife of the late president who founded the drive for funds to combat infantile paralysis.
This "hobo" is a big basket being circulated on freight trains all over the Pennsylvania System to collect funds for polio victims. Railroad officials at Penn. Station, N.Y. had 8-year-old Leonard Laskowski, polio victim, on hand to receive the "hobo" in New York.
